State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed has asserted that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) remains on high alert and has successfully prevented multiple “push-in” attempts along the border with India.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, the state minister confirmed that there have been at least three to four recent instances where such attempts were made.
In each case, she noted, the BGB maintained a firm stance to protect the frontier.
“The BGB played a very strong role and resisted these attempts. This policy will continue – as many times as a ‘push-in’ is attempted, the BGB will stand firm and resist it,” Shama Obaed said.
The state minister also highlighted the diplomatic measures being taken by the government to address these incidents
She revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already issued formal diplomatic letters to the relevant authorities regarding the previous attempts.
Shama Obaed emphasised a coordinated response to the issue, stating that while the BGB handles the situation on the ground, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to send diplomatic notes to ensure the matter is addressed through official channels.
The government’s stance remains clear: Any future attempts at illegal crossings will be met with immediate resistance from border forces and prompt diplomatic action.
