Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) prevented an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to illegally push seven Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the West Saheb Nagar border in Parshuram, Feni.
The incident occurred near border pillar 2145, adjacent to the BGB’s Sreepur Border Outpost (BOP) and the MLR garden near Rajnagar in India, at approximately 2:30am on Saturday.
Local sources reported that BSF members from the Rajnagar camp gathered the seven Indian citizens at the border line and attempted to force them to cross into Bangladesh through the West Saheb Nagar-Durgapur village area.
Upon receiving information regarding the movement, BGB members from the Sreepur camp arrived at the spot and staged a firm protest, creating a strong barrier against the infiltration attempt.
Following the BGB’s resolute and firm stance, the BSF was forced to suspend the push-in attempt and eventually took the Indian nationals back into Indian territory at around 10am.
According to the BGB, the seven individuals have been identified as Indian nationals, consisting of six women and one male child.
BGB Feni Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Colonel MM Zillur Rahman confirmed the incident and said a formal protest has been lodged with the Indian authorities. He added that the BGB remains on high alert at the border to prevent any further untoward situations following the event.
