Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have seized eight Indian cows, 10 kilograms of cannabis, and a large quantity of yaba tablets during an anti-smuggling operation in Chunarughat, Habiganj.
Commanding Officer of Habiganj 55 BGB Lieutenant Colonel Md Tanzilur Rahman confirmed the development on Saturday afternoon.
He said a smuggling ring was bringing eight Indian cows, 10 kg of cannabis, and a large number of yaba tablets through the remote border area of the Satchhari Reserved Forest in Chunarughat upazila on Saturday morning.
Upon receiving information about the smuggling attempt, BGB personnel launched an operation in the area.
Sensing the presence of the border guards, the smugglers fled the scene. The BGB members subsequently seized the smuggled cattle and narcotics.
“BGB remains active in preventing smuggling,” said Tanzilur, adding, “our members are deployed along the border to seize any illegal products, including drugs.”
