Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 200,000 Burmese yaba tablets during a special raid at Ghumdum border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
Acting on the directions of the Commanding Officer of Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB), a patrol team from Ghumdum Border Outpost conducted the raid in Kakra Bridge area around 9:10pm on Sunday night.
Sensing the BGB team’s presence, suspected drug traffickers fled the scene.
The BGB team searched the area and recovered the yaba tablets in an abandoned state. A General Diary was filed at Ukhia Police Station, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Lt Col SM Khairul Alam, commanding officer of Cox’s Bazar Battalion, said the BGB remains committed to combating border-centric crimes, including drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal arms, alongside its primary duty of guarding the frontier.
He said border protection and anti-drug operations would be further intensified.
