Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) carried out a joint drive in Rupganj, Narayanganj, and found 2,000 litres of illegally hoarded soybean oil.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from Narayanganj Battalion (62 BGB) and RAB raided a warehouse at Tarabo Kazipara intersection in Rupganj at around 1:00am on Friday. The warehouse belongs to two individuals named Raju and Khorshed.
Lieutenant Colonel Mirza Mohammad Arafat, commanding officer of Narayanganj Battalion (62 BGB) confirmed the metter through a press release.
During the operation, the team found a total of nine barrels holding approximately 2,000 litres of loose soybean oil. Officials found clear evidence that the oil had been collected from local markets, stored illegally, and then bottled and marketed using stickers labelled ‘Bondhon Plus’ and ‘Bismillah’.
On information, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Marjanul Haque of Narayanganj district administration arrived at the scene and ordered the warehouse to be sealed immediately.
Authorities said they will take further legal steps regarding the illegally stored oil and the individuals involved, in the presence of the concerned parties.
In a statement, BGB said it continues to conduct regular joint operations across the country to prevent illegal activities. Such drives will continue to protect public health and ensure safety.
