Indian Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push six people into Bangladesh through the Maheshpur frontier in Jhenaidah, but Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) foiled the attempt with swift intervention.
According to the BGB, the incident occurred around 5:10am Saturday near border pillar 55/MP at Samanta BOP under the Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB).
Members of BSF’s 59 Battalion from Singamora camp tried to send four men and two women across the gate into Bangladesh.
When BGB patrol team detected the attempt, they took position at the border and prevented entry. Officials said BSF’s push‑in effort failed due to BGB’s firm stance.
The six individuals are now about 20 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line. BSF has been formally notified to take necessary action, BGB said.
The force added it remains on maximum alert to prevent illegal infiltration, push‑ins and cross‑border crimes. Regular patrols, surveillance and operational activities are being carried out to ensure border security.
