Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push three people into Bangladesh through the Jibannagar border in Chuadanga.
The incident occurred around 3am Sunday at Madhabkhali border in Jibannagar upazila. Munshi Imdadur Rahman, assistant director of BGB’s Maheshpur‑58 Battalion, confirmed the matter in a press release.
According to the release, BSF members from the Meteli camp of the 32nd BSF Battalion tried to push three individuals — one man and two women — into Bangladesh through the gate near border pillar 70/2‑S at Madhabkhali.
Before they could enter, a patrol team of Madhabkhali Border Outpost (BOP) spotted them and blocked their entry from the zero line. The three then retreated about 40 yards inside Indian territory. Due to BGB’s firm stance, they moved back near the barbed wire fence at 5:20am.
Later, at 7:55am, BSF members from the Meteli camp opened gate 68/5‑S and took the three individuals back inside India, the release said.
The Maheshpur‑58 Battalion stated that the incident has already been communicated to the 32nd BSF Battalion.
The release added that BGB remains on maximum alert, playing a responsible role in border security, preventing push‑ins and illegal infiltration, and maintaining peace and order in border areas.
