Global music star Beyoncé has released her first new song in two years, sparking fresh speculation about her upcoming album plans.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, she dropped the track Morning Dew (Donk) 3rd July, on Saturday morning. The release came on the Fourth of July and marked a surprise return for the singer after a long gap without new music.
Beyoncé wrote the song with Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon. She also produced it with Pharrell Williams. The track will feature on the 20th anniversary edition of her album B’Day. The release also begins a 60-day countdown to the reissue and to her birthday on 4 September.
B’Day first released on Beyoncé’s 25th birthday on 4 September 2006. It became her second No. 1 album. It sold more than 541,000 copies in its first week. The album includes hit songs such as Irreplaceable and Ring the Alarm.
Beyoncé released Morning Dew alongside a black-and-white lyric video. The video includes archival footage directed by Cliff Watts. He also shot her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover in 2007.
A statement from Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment said the track serves as a special gift for fans and acts as a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive.
Morning Dew marks Beyoncé’s first new release since her Cowboy Carter album in March 2024. That album earned her her first Grammy for Album of the Year. Before that win, she held the record for the most Grammy nominations without a win in the category, despite being the most awarded artist in Grammy history.
The release arrives as fans continue to expect new music and possible updates on a long-rumoured Act III album. The project would complete a three-part series that began with Renaissance and continued with Cowboy Carter.
