Import and export activities through Benapole land port have remained suspended since Wednesday morning due to the public holiday marking Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi.
However, movement of passport-holding passengers between Bangladesh and India has continued as usual, said Benapole land port Acting Director Ruhul Amin.
Aminul Haque, vice-president of the Benapole Port Importers and Exporters Association, said all trade activities between Bangladesh and India through the port remained suspended on Wednesday due to the holiday.
“Import-export activities, along with customs and other port operations, will resume from Thursday morning,” he said.
Ferdous Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration Police, said passenger movement between the two countries remained normal despite the suspension of trade activities.
He added that empty Indian trucks that had unloaded goods at the port would be allowed to return to India.
