Some candidates who passed the preliminary examination of the 50th BCS have demanded that the written examination be postponed by two months and held in July, alleging that they have not received sufficient preparation time.
They made this demand at a protest rally on Sunday afternoon at the foot of Raju Memorial Sculpture
on the Dhaka University campus, under the banner of “50th BCS Written Examination Candidates.”
One of the protesters, Piku Barua, said, “We have gathered here today with this reasonable demand so that the concerned authorities can be informed about this matter and the examination is postponed by at least two months. That is, this 50th BCS written examination should be held in July.”
Explaining the reason, Piku said, “Those who will take the examination in both cadres have to sit for a total of 1,200 marks. Normally, at least 6 to 9 months of time is needed to complete this. We have been given only 58 days.”
“A large part of these 58 days was spent during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr. Due to fasting and the Eid holidays, libraries and our various coaching centres remained closed. The libraries at the coaching centers were also closed.”
They said they have already submitted a memorandum to the Public Service Commission and have not received any feedback.
