The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received the final report from the independent inquiry committee investigating alleged spot-fixing and integrity issues in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024–25 season. The board confirmed the development through an official statement on Tuesday, nearly a month later than initially expected.
The comprehensive report, spanning around 900 pages, outlines findings on suspected corrupt practices, operational shortcomings, and governance irregularities within the franchise-based competition. It also provides a detailed roadmap for reform, including legal recommendations, institutional restructuring, stricter franchise compliance, enhanced player protections, improved risk monitoring, and a stronger communication framework for all stakeholders.
The BCB said the inquiry committee conducted its work independently and based on evidence, thanking its members for their service. However, the board clarified that it will not comment on any specific allegations or disclose names from the report at this stage in order to protect the integrity of ongoing or potential proceedings.
Consistent with due process and the ICC’s anti-corruption code, the BCB will review the committee’s recommendations and coordinate with relevant authorities and international partners for any necessary follow-up investigations.
To reinforce the sport’s integrity mechanisms, the board has established an independent body — the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU) — which will be led by an independent chairman. The BCB said it remains committed to transparent, rules-based reform and to safeguarding the interests of players, officials, and supporters.
According to several media reports, the investigation identified 36 suspicious incidents from the last BPL season involving 12 cricketers, though the BCB has not revealed any names. The report is also believed to include non-playing individuals, but it is yet to be confirmed whether formal disciplinary action will follow.
