The 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is just two days away. Ahead of the curtain-raiser on December 26 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is holding a board meeting on Wednesday at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium office. The meeting, which began at 11 am, is primarily focused on BPL-related matters.

According to sources, President Aminul Islam Bulbul called the meeting to review players’ payments, benefits, and all related issues concerning the tournament.

There are also reports that the owners of Chattogram Royals have delayed paying 25% of their players’ main salaries before the team’s first match, which is expected to be discussed separately at the board meeting. The franchise has already faced criticism over team selection, training arrangements, and last-minute withdrawals of foreign players.

Other agenda items include whether an alternative league can be introduced alongside the First Division Cricket League, the launch of a new Under-23 tournament, and measures to prevent match-fixing in the BPL. The meeting may also formally announce that Mustafizur Rahman has received clearance to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
