Tamim Iqbal, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has said that the next board election will be held within the second week of June.
During the second ODI of the three-match series between Bangladesh and New Zealand on Monday, Tamim visited the press box at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and spoke to reporters.
“We will try to arrange the next BCB election within the first two weeks of June,” he said.
Tamim, who was appointed by the National Sports Council as head of an 11-member ad hoc committee on April 7, took charge after the previous board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul was dissolved following irregularities in the last election.
The ad hoc committee has already formed a standing committee, with a mandate to ensure a fair election by the first week of July. However, Tamim is aiming to hold the election about a month earlier than scheduled.
