The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has approved a new Non-Participation and Withdrawal clause for all Dhaka-based cricket leagues in a move aimed at tightening discipline and ensuring fair competition.
The regulation, endorsed by the board on Monday, will apply to all leagues under the jurisdiction of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) — including the Dhaka Premier Division, First Division, Second Division, Third Division, and Third Division Qualifying Leagues — from the upcoming 2025–26 season.
In a media release, the BCB said: “If any team fails to participate in the League, either in full or partially, including complete withdrawal from the competition after its commencement, such action shall result in the immediate disqualification and relegation of the defaulting team, with no entitlement to resume participation in the ongoing League.”
The statement further outlined that “if the defaulting team has already participated in one or more matches prior to its withdrawal or disqualification, full points from those matches shall be awarded to the respective opponents, irrespective of the original match results.”
Similarly, all teams scheduled to play against the disqualified side will automatically receive full points for those fixtures.
The BCB added that the clause will not apply to any team that officially forfeits participation before the league begins.
Another key provision states that “if two or more teams are relegated as a result of withdrawal or non-participation, the Relegation League shall not be held for that season.” The number of teams to be promoted in the following season will then be determined by the CCDM, depending on how many sides were relegated.
The move comes as part of the board’s continued efforts to uphold the integrity and competitiveness of Dhaka’s domestic structure, ensuring that teams honour their commitments throughout the season.
