British American Tobacco (BAT) Bangladesh reported a 34.1 per cent year-on-year decline in earnings per share to Tk3.88 for January–March 2026, down from Tk5.89 in the same period of 2025, driven by weaker sales volume and revenue contraction.

Net operating cash flow per share remained negative at Tk22.70, compared with Tk17.62 in the corresponding period last year, reflecting lower collections from sales and higher interest payments amid increased reliance on short-term borrowing to meet working capital needs.

Net asset value per share rose marginally to Tk103.38 as of 31 March 2026, compared with Tk102.50 at the end of December 2025.

The earnings decline was driven primarily by lower cigarette sales and rising operating costs during the quarter, according to company disclosures based on its January–March financial results.

Revenue from cigarette sales fell to about Tk8,725 crore in the first quarter of 2026 from Tk9,597 crore a year earlier, a decline of more than 9 per cent. The company said the drop in volumes weighed on profitability despite a relatively stable tax contribution structure.
