Veteran actor Bapparaj is set to make his long-awaited return to cinema, starring alongside Prarthana Fardin Dighi for the first time in director Mehedi Hassan Hridoy’s upcoming film ‘Biday’.
Following the success of his Eid release ‘Borbaad’, which featured Shakib Khan, Hridoy had kept details of his next project tightly under wraps. After months of speculation about whether Shakib Khan or Siam Ahmed would headline his next film, the director has finally started filming Biday in Taherpur, Sunamganj, with a fresh cast and a markedly different tone.
Producer Shahrin Akter confirmed that the planned Borbaad follow-up with Siam has been postponed. “For now, our full focus is on Biday, starring Bapparaj, Dighi, and several other talented artists,” she said.
The film brings together two generations of Bangladeshi cinema: Bapparaj, one of the defining faces of the 1990s and early 2000s; Dighi, a popular actor of the new wave.
Shooting began last Friday across various locations in Sunamganj, with Bapparaj joining the production on Monday to film his sequences. He plays a union chairman, marking his comeback role after a significant hiatus.
Though remaining tight-lipped about the story, Bapparaj shared, “The production has asked us not to reveal too much yet. I’ll be able to say more once we wrap filming later this month.”
With Mehedi Hassan returning to direction after Borbaad’s commercial success and Biday pairing two generations for the first time, the project has already sparked curiosity among film enthusiasts, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated Bangladeshi releases of the coming year.
