A Bangladeshi youth has been killed in a road accident in Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia.
The deceased, Giyas Howlader, 35, was the son of the late Ohab Howlader and hailed from Kachikata village in Umedpur union of Shibchar upazila.
The accident occurred at around 3pm (Bangladesh time) on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur city. Police and local sources said Giyas was returning home on a motorcycle from his business establishment when a freight truck hit his vehicle from behind, leaving him critically injured.
Local residents and police rescued him and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. His family in Bangladesh received the news the following day.
Giyas, the youngest of five brothers and two sisters, had migrated to Malaysia around a decade ago in search of work. Over time, he established his own clothing factory. Family members said he used to visit home periodically and had already booked a flight to return to Bangladesh next month. His marriage arrangements were also scheduled to be finalised during the visit.
The bereaved family has sought assistance from the authorities to repatriate his body as soon as possible for burial.
Shibchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer H M Ibne Mizan said the administration would provide necessary support if a formal request was submitted.
