Bangladesh will feature in a tri-nation series in Scotland as part of their preparation for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup. The national team will also host Sri Lanka for white-ball series in April before travelling abroad to fine-tune their squad.
Bangladesh had entered the last Women’s ODI World Cup after going almost six months without playing any international matches. To address such a gap, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had organised practice matches against the Under-15 boys team. However, the team will have better preparation this time ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled for June–July.
Before the World Cup, Nigar Sultana Joty’s side will play a triangular series in Scotland, which will also feature the Netherlands.
BCB Women’s Wing Chairperson Rubaba Dowla confirmed the development to the media on Wednesday after a meeting of the board’s tournament committee. The first Women’s BPL is also scheduled to begin on April 4, with the final set for April 14.
Rubaba said, “What we are doing before the World Cup includes the BPL. Then there is a home series, and approval has already been given for a triangular series. The team will travel to Scotland, where Scotland, the Netherlands and Bangladesh will compete. We have made these plans.”
Following the WBPL, Bangladesh will host Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI and T20I series at home. The team is expected to travel to Scotland either at the end of May or early June.
Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on June 14. India, Pakistan, Australia and South Africa are also placed in the same group.
