Bangladesh ended their three-match playoff series against Pakistan with another heavy defeat on Sunday, losing 10–3 at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium. The result confirmed a comprehensive whitewash, as Bangladesh conceded 26 goals across the series and managed to score only five.
Pakistan looked sharper and more cohesive in every department, while Bangladesh struggled repeatedly in both attack and defence. The hosts failed to create meaningful resistance, and the gulf between the two sides widened with each match.
Bangladesh’s frontline could not convert the limited chances they created. Missed connections that once defined their play under Pushkor Khisa Mimo and Hasan Jubair Niloy were nowhere to be seen. Rakibul, Abdullah, Sabuj and Obaidul Joy all missed key link-ups in the 6th, 13th, 24th, 44th and 59th minutes. Sabuj also failed to score into an empty post in the 15th minute, a moment that summed up the team’s struggles.
Pakistan, meanwhile, punished almost every defensive lapse. They won 15 penalty corners in the final match and converted nine. Sufiyan scored six goals, Abdul Rehman added two and Nadeem Ahmed netted one from a set piece. The lone field goal came from Rana Walid.
Bangladesh’s three goals included two field strikes and one penalty corner. Abdullah scored in the 19th minute, Rakibul Hassan in the 44th, and Ashraful converted their only tournament penalty-corner goal in the 57th minute. Across all three matches, Bangladesh earned only eight penalty corners and converted just one.
Pakistan had won the first match 8–2 and the second match 8–0, before finishing the job with a commanding 10–3 scoreline.
