Bangladesh showcased its cultural heritage, tourism potential and export strengths at the first-ever Diplomatic Cultural Festival in Nigeria, held in Abuja on 13 June 2026, reinforcing its efforts to deepen bilateral and people-to-people ties.
Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, the event brought together more than 41 diplomatic missions, offering a vibrant platform for cultural exchange and international engagement.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja set up a dedicated exhibition booth featuring a range of Bangladeshi export products alongside photographs highlighting major tourist destinations across the country. The display drew steady interest from visitors throughout the day.
Guests were also treated to traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, offering a taste of the country’s culinary heritage, which was widely appreciated by attendees.
A cultural performance presented by the High Commission added colour to the programme and attracted significant attention from the audience, showcasing Bangladesh’s rich artistic traditions.
A key highlight of the event was a colourful national parade organised by the High Commission, which moved around the festival grounds and main stage, proudly displaying the national flag of Bangladesh.
Members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Nigeria also joined the parade, adding energy and enthusiasm to the celebrations and reinforcing community engagement.
The High Commission’s overall participation, including its cultural presentations and interactive displays, was highly appreciated by Nigerian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, local visitors and the Bangladeshi diaspora.
Officials said the event provided an important platform to enhance cultural understanding, strengthen people-to-people connections and further deepen friendly relations between Bangladesh, Nigeria and other participating countries.
