Tamim Iqbal, Mohammad Ashraful, Nurul Hasan Sohan and Marufa Akter were among the Bangladesh cricket figures who cast their votes in the 13th National Parliamentary election on Thursday.
Tamim Iqbal voted in Chattogram 9 constituency. After casting his vote, he wrote, “Voting is my civic right. I cast my vote and saw many others voting with great enthusiasm. Thanks to the Bangladesh Army and all law enforcement agencies for helping ensure a disciplined and fair system.”
Mohammad Ashraful voted at South Banasree Model High School in Dhaka 9. He later shared on Facebook, “I voted today with my children. Teaching responsibility starts at home.”
Nurul Hasan Sohan also cast his vote. It was the first vote of his life.
Women’s team pacer Marufa Akter voted for the first time in her local area. She wrote on Facebook, “First vote of my life done.” Her family was with her.
The 13th National Parliament election and the constitutional referendum on state reform are being held on the same day. Voters across the country are taking part to decide the future of Bangladesh.
