Bangladesh have received a significant boost in the ICC T20I rankings, moving up one place to eighth after gaining a rating point, rising from 224 to 225. More notably, they have leapfrogged former world and Asian champions Sri Lanka, who dropped from eighth to ninth after losing six points, falling from 227 to 221.
The top seven remain unchanged, with India leading, followed by England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and West Indies, who sit just above Bangladesh on 233 points. Afghanistan are 10th on 220 points, with Zimbabwe, Ireland, the United States, the Netherlands, and Scotland completing the top 15.
Women’s rankings: Sharmin and Shorna on the rise
Despite a 3–0 T20I series whitewash against Sri Lanka, several Bangladesh women’s players have improved their individual standings in the latest ICC rankings.
In batting, Sharmin Akhter Supta climbed 10 places to 37th, Shorna Akter rose 19 places to 62nd, and Dilara Akter moved up five spots to 55th. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty, however, dropped four places to 23rd, though she remains Bangladesh’s highest-ranked batter.
Among bowlers, Sultana Khatun made the most dramatic leap, surging 48 places to 38th. Fariha Islam Trisna moved up 17 places to 77th, while Marufa Akter climbed eight spots to 81st. Rabeya Khan remains Bangladesh’s top-ranked bowler despite slipping five places to 18th.
In the all-rounders’ list, Swarna rose two places to 23rd. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, buoyed by her performances against Bangladesh, climbed to third, overtaking Deepti Sharma and Ashleigh Gardner.
