Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana recently attended the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match between Bangladesh and India in his capacity as a UNICEF India Goodwill Ambassador. During the event, he met Bangladeshi cricketer Marufa Akter.
Marufa shared her excitement by posting a photo with Ayushmann on Facebook on Wednesday. The post received overwhelming reactions within hours, and fans showered both of them with warm wishes in the comments.
Ayushmann, who has been serving as a UNICEF India Goodwill Ambassador since 2023, attended the Women’s Cricket World Cup to champion children’s rights. Before the match, he took part in a photo session with the trophy.
UNICEF and the ICC are collaborating on the ‘Pledge for Children’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the rights and welfare of children.
Cricket fans, spectators and players are being encouraged to join UNICEF in supporting every child’s right to safety, education and empowerment.
Reaffirming his commitment, Ayushmann spoke about the transformative power of cricket, saying, “As a UNICEF India Goodwill Ambassador, I am honoured to be here today to support this UNICEF-ICC partnership for children’s rights.”
Meanwhile, Ayushmann’s latest film ‘Thamaa’, part of Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, has recently been released.
Blending elements of ghostly humour and romance, the film has been performing well since its premiere.
