Nahidur Rahman, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Goalanda in Rajbari, has been transferred.
The Ministry of Public Administration made the announcement on Sunday through a circular signed by Joint Secretary Abul Hayat Md Rafiq.
According to the notification, Nahidur Rahman has been appointed as Deputy Director of the Export Promotion Bureau under the Ministry of Commerce. He has been instructed to report to his new post by 21 September. Failure to comply will result in his immediate release from the current position that afternoon.
Commenting on the transfer, Nahidur Rahman said, it as part of the routine administrative reshuffling and assured that he would perform his duties diligently at his new posting.
Earlier, on Friday, 12th September, Mohammad Rakibul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Goalanda Ghat Police Station, was also transferred.

The transfers follow a violent incident on 5th September, when, after Friday prayers, a group of people attacked police, vandalized three government vehicles, and set fire to the shrine of Nurul Haque, popularly known as Nural Pagla, in Goalanda. Over a hundred followers were injured, and one man, Russell Molla, was killed.
Around 10 to 12 police personnel were also hurt. The attackers later exhumed Nural Pagla’s body and set it ablaze, intensifying tensions in the area.
In connection with the attack on police and the vandalism, Sub-Inspector Md Selim Molla filed a case that night at Goalanda Ghat Police Station against an estimated 3,000 to 3,500 unidentified individuals. To date, 16 suspects have been arrested.
Separately, regarding the killing of Russell Molla during the shrine attack, Russell’s father, Azad Molla, filed another case on the night of September 8 against 3,500 to 4,000 unidentified individuals. Charges include murder, arson, desecration, destruction, looting, and assault. Eight suspects have been arrested so far in this case.
