The Architecture Department of Sonargaon University (SU) has organised the ‘Final Year Thesis Jury, Spring 2026,’ an event highlighting a unique combination of creativity, research, and thoughtful design.
The program was attended by Abdul Aziz, founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sonargaon University, reads a press release.
Other prominent attendees included Md Imran Chowdhury, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Global University Bangladesh; Bulbul Ahmed, acting pro-vice chancellor of SU; Md Al Amin Molla, dean of the Faculty of Business; and Brig (retd) Habibur Rahman Kamal , dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
The event was coordinated by Akmal Hakim, head of the Architecture Department, and Lecturer Nilufar Yasmin Nila.
The evaluation panel featured a distinguished lineup of academic and professional experts, including Kazi Azizul Mowla, retired BUET professor and former VC of UITS; Mohammad Ali Naqi, dean of the Faculty of Science at State University and former VC of Stamford University; and SM Najmul Imam, and head of the Department of Architecture at BUET.
Also serving on the jury were Md Asifur Rahman Bhuiyan, chief architect of the Department of Architecture, Government of Bangladesh; Chowdhury Saiduzzaman, treasurer of the 26th Executive Council of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB); and Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, chief architect and founder of Nakshabide Architects.
During the session, students presented innovative architectural solutions rooted in culture, sustainable development, environmental context, and the human experience.
The jury reviewed the students’ drawings, physical models, and 3D presentations, providing in-depth analysis and critical evaluation.
This thesis jury is considered a pivotal milestone for the students as they transition from their academic studies toward becoming professional architects.
