Arsenal F.C. lifted the Premier League trophy after a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace F.C. at Selhurst Park on Sunday, five days after sealing their first league title in 22 years.
Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring late in the first half before Noni Madueke doubled Arsenal’s lead after the break. Jean-Philippe Mateta pulled one back in the 89th minute, but the result never threatened Arsenal’s celebrations.
Mikel Arteta rotated heavily before next week’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain F.C.. Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, David Raya and Viktor Gyokeres all started on the bench.
Arsenal still controlled long spells through quick passing and aggressive pressing. Palace also rested several first-team players before their UEFA Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano.
The champions nearly scored inside five minutes when Jesus hit the post. The Brazilian striker finally broke through in the 42nd minute after Gabriel Martinelli slipped a pass into the area. Jesus drilled a low finish past Dean Henderson at the near post.
Madueke struck again three minutes into the second half from a set-piece routine. Arsenal built much of their title success on dead-ball efficiency this season and produced another sharp corner move. Kai Havertz headed the ball back across goal and Madueke volleyed home from inside the area.
The afternoon also brought a Premier League record for Max Dowman, who became the youngest player to start a match in the competition at 16 years and 144 days old.
After full-time, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard lifted the trophy in front of travelling supporters as red confetti and fireworks filled the stadium.
Arsenal finished the campaign seven points above Manchester City F.C. after winning 26 of their 38 league matches.
