Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a military task force located and stormed a clandestine camp operated by the UPDF in the dense jungles near Juboneshwar Para, within Panchaari Upazila of Khagrachari district, during the early hours of Monday.
The operation commenced at approximately 5:00 am. Alerted by the army’s advance, Sumon Chakma, a prominent local commander of the UPDF, managed to escape the area. A subsequent thorough search of the premises yielded an array of items, including a pistol, a magazine, two live rounds, fifteen propaganda banners, two communication device chargers, two cell phones, an assortment of bladed weapons, and various other supplies utilized by the group’s militants, an ISPR release said.
Sources indicate that in an attempt to obstruct the military’s proceedings, UPDF affiliates coerced local residents, including women and students, into vocalizing protests against the security forces. An analysis of recent developments, including today’s event, strongly suggests a calculated strategy by the UPDF and its associated factions to deliberately create instability in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This strategy appears to involve the systematic coercion and involvement of local women and young, impressionable schoolchildren in their destructive agendas.
Search and clearance operations remain active across different parts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts(CHT) as security forces work to apprehend the absconding armed members and ensure public safety.
