Television actor Arjun Bijlani has dismissed recent speculation about a romantic relationship with his longtime friend Mouni Roy, saying someone has been trying to defame the actor.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the rumours began after Bijlani and Roy were spotted leaving a dinner gathering together. The actor said he initially chose not to respond, but changed his mind after friends questioned the reports.
“If seven or eight people are going for dinner, it’s not like we are going for the first time,” Bijlani said. He added that he and Roy had gone out together many times and had also spent time alone as friends.
Bijlani also said he believed someone had been repeatedly trying to damage Roy’s reputation. He said she had recently faced comments about her sexuality and drinking, adding that attending parties was normal.
The actors have been close friends for years. They worked together on Ektaa Kapoor’s television series Naagin and have continued to spend time together and celebrate milestones.
Bijlani is married to Neha Swami and they have a son, Ayaan Bijlani. Roy was married to businessman Suraj Nambiar. In May 2026, the couple announced that they were ending their four-year marriage. They said they would move forward separately with respect and understanding and criticised what they called unnecessary and intrusive attention.
On the work front, Bijlani was last seen in Laughter Chefs Season 3. He will next appear in Chumbak Society, which premieres on Netflix on 28 August. Roy was last seen in Ab Hoga Hisaab Season 2, streaming on Amazon MX Player.
