Filming has begun in Nepal for actress Apu Biswas’ upcoming film Shikar, with the production opening against the scenic backdrop of Pokhara’s mountains, blue skies and expansive natural landscapes.
The film began with a formal mahurat ceremony before cameras started rolling.
Lead actor Mortoza Polash offered prayers for the film’s success, while actor Shyam Bhattacharya marked the beginning of the production by breaking a coconut.
Directed by Kamruzzaman Roman and produced by Reza Films, Shikar brings together artists and crew members from Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
Apu Biswas, Mortoza Polash, Borda Mithu, popular Kolkata actor Rajatava Dutta and Samm Batyacharyya took part in the first day’s shooting.
Apu said the story and the scope it offered her as an actor were what initially attracted her to the project.
“When the director came to me with the story, I agreed immediately because the film gives me space to perform and explore my character. I am also very excited that Murtaza Palash will be making his debut as a leading man through this film. I hope audiences will enjoy the story,” she said.
For Polash, Shikar marks his first appearance on the big screen.
Although he has previously acted in several television dramas, he underwent extensive preparation for his role in the film.
The production is expected to continue for around a month across various locations in Nepal, particularly its mountainous landscapes.
With performers and crew from three countries working together, Shikar is planned for a theatrical release during Eid next year.
