Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh.
The arrestee is Md Babul Mia, 24, a resident of Square Master Bari in Dubaliapara village of Bhaluka upazila.
With this arrest, police have so far arrested 23 people in connection with the case. Of them, 11 have confessed before a court.
Babul Mia was picked up around 9pm on Sunday from a tea stall near the Pioneer Factory in Dubaliapara.
Mymensingh Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect played a key role in gathering people at the factory gate during the incident. He was the first to assemble the crowd and incite them with slogans.
Mamun added that Babul has been accused of actively participating in the beating and killing of Dipu in front of the gate, transporting the body to Square Master Bari Main Road, and subjecting the corpse to inhumane abuse.
The official further said district detectives are continuing operations to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
