Bangladesh ‘A’ will play a four-day match against South Australia in Darwin from 28 to 31 August, following the conclusion of the Top End T20 series. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 14-member squad for the fixture, with Mahidul Islam Ankon appointed captain.
Several players with Test experience have been included, offering them an opportunity to adapt to Australian conditions ahead of Bangladesh’s senior side touring the country for a two-Test series in August 2026. Among them are Hasan Mahmud, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, Nayeem Hasan and Ankon himself.
The squad also features Saif Hasan, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, and Rakibul Hasan, while a number of consistent domestic performers have been rewarded with selection. Iftikhar Hossain Ifty, who scored 563 runs at an average of 43.30 in the last National Cricket League (NCL) season for Barishal, impressed further with a century against South Africa Emerging. He now has the chance to showcase his red-ball credentials in Australian conditions.
Amit Hasan, another prolific domestic batter, has also been included after amassing 785 runs at an average of 78.50 for Sylhet in the most recent NCL campaign. Despite limited success against New Zealand ‘A’ earlier this year, his domestic form has been too strong to ignore.
Alongside them, young bowlers Ripon Mondol, Mushfik Hasan, and Hasan Murad have been named.
