Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has shared a reflective message about acknowledging mistakes after facing criticism over his comments on France’s national football team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Hindustan Times, Bachchan recently drew backlash after posting on X following France’s victory over Paraguay. Referring to the team’s racial composition, he wrote that the French squad had “11 players… 10 Black… 1 white” and described it as “the POWER of BLACK”. The post triggered criticism from many users, who argued that the players should be recognised for representing France rather than being identified by their skin colour.
Without directly referring to the controversy, Bachchan addressed the subject in a new post on his Tumblr blog, describing every day as “a fresh and new learning”. He wrote that learning was a continuous process and stressed the importance of understanding oneself through experience.
The actor also reflected on accepting personal errors, writing that “admitting a mistake is not wrong” because it “shows character”. He added that acknowledging a mistake helps end unnecessary debate and allows people to move forward instead of wasting time on prolonged arguments.
Bachchan further wrote that even when someone believes they are right, it is sometimes wiser to end an argument by allowing the other person to feel they have prevailed, rather than continuing an unproductive exchange.
On the professional front, Bachchan is preparing to return in the sequel to the blockbuster mythological sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin. The film will also star Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, while Deepika Padukone, who appeared in the first instalment, will not return for the sequel.
