The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) held a dialogue, titled “Bangladesh’s Business and Investment Climate: From Challenges to Competitiveness”, on 30 November at the Holiday Inn Dhaka, supported by Betopia Group.
The event brought together senior officials from the ministries of commerce, industries, foreign affairs, finance and ICT, as well as representatives of the National Board of Revenue, BIDA and other government bodies.
Speakers said improving the investment climate is an urgent priority, calling for more efficient logistics, streamlined customs procedures and consistent regulations to support domestic and foreign investors.
Participants also pointed to energy security, digital trade facilitation, policy continuity and incentives for reuse and recycling industries as key to boosting competitiveness.
Stronger coordination among government agencies and sustained public-private collaboration were described as essential for long-term growth.
Paul Frost, commercial counsellor at the US embassy in Dhaka, attended the session and signalled continued US-Bangladesh engagement on trade and investment.
AmCham executive committee members Moinul Huq, country manager of Citi NA, and Rashed Mujib Noman, managing director of Augmedix Bangladesh, joined industry leaders in the discussion.
Betopia Group Founder and Group CEO Muhammad Monir Hossain was also present, and the dialogue was moderated by AmCham Executive Director Chowdhury Kaiser Mohammad Riyadh.
