One suspected robber was killed and two others seriously injured after being attacked by local residents in Kalagachia, Narayanganj, on Saturday.
The incident began when the robbers attempted a heist in Shambhupura, Sonargaon, while travelling by trawler. When villagers chased them, the robbers fled to Kalagachia, where they were then surrounded by residents, according to locals.
Three robbers were caught, while others managed to escape.
Kalagachia river police rushed to the scene, rescued the injured robbers, and took them to the hospital. The body of the deceased was recovered and sent to the morgue.
OC Mamun Pathan of Narayanganj river police said the identities of the injured could not be confirmed as they were unable to speak. Efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased, and preparations for filing a case are underway.
