Al Amin Hossain moved on Saturday to shut down growing rumours about his omission from the final list of local players for today’s BPL season twelve auction in Dhaka, after fans questioned why his name was missing from the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s published list.
The BCB had earlier stated that players suspected of involvement in fixing during the previous BPL season would not be included, and the absence of the experienced pacer led many to assume he had been left out under suspicion. Social media speculation intensified throughout the day, prompting Al Amin to issue a public clarification.
In a Facebook post, he explained that his omission had nothing to do with disciplinary issues. “I, Al Amin Hossain, have been on leave for the past seven months due to family problems,” he wrote. “I am currently in the United States. For this reason I did not take part in any tournament, including the NCL T20 and NCL Test.”
He said that his absence from the list was a natural consequence of his break from the game. “Many people are spreading rumours because my name is not in the BPL draft,” he added. “Since I have been on leave it is normal that my name did not appear, and I withdrew my name from the draft list on my own initiative.”
While several notable domestic players were also left out of the final auction pool, the focus on Al Amin reflected both his seniority and the sensitivity around the BCB’s recent stance on corruption related exclusions.
