Airtel, the youth-focused brand of Robi Axiata PLC, has appointed A1 Esports as its official Gaming Brand Ambassador, Robi Axiata said in a press release on Thursday.
Under the partnership, A1 Esports will represent Airtel across esports tournaments, live streams and digital content platforms both locally and internationally. The collaboration reflects Airtel’s effort to strengthen its engagement with young digital consumers as mobile gaming and esports continue to expand in Bangladesh.
Esports have emerged as one of the country’s fastest-growing entertainment segments, driven by increasing smartphone penetration, affordable mobile internet and a large youth population. Robi said the partnership aims to deepen Airtel’s connection with this community while supporting the broader esports ecosystem.
A1 Esports is regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most successful PUBG Mobile teams. The squad made history as the first Bangladeshi team to compete in the PUBG Mobile Global Championship.
Domestically, the team has won the PUBG Mobile National Championship three times and also secured the title in the inaugural season of the Airtel Gaming Arena.
Commenting on the partnership, Md Abdul Jabbar Shakil, captain of A1 Esports, said the collaboration was a significant step for the team. “Airtel has long been encouraging gaming and esports in Bangladesh. This collaboration will help us represent the country on the international stage,” he said.
Robi Axiata PLC is a publicly listed company, with Malaysia-based Axiata Group Berhad holding a 61.82 percent stake. India’s Bharti Airtel owns 28.18 percent, while public shareholders hold the remaining 10 percent.
Robi is the country’s second-largest mobile network operator, with a nationwide telecom infrastructure that supports digital services and the country’s expanding digital ecosystem in both urban and rural areas.
