Ahsan Habib Palash, deputy inspector general (DIG) of Chattogram Range, has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced his appointment in a notification issued on Monday.
In addition, significant reshuffles have been made in the positions of eight other senior police officials.
New appointments have been announced to several top police positions, including the high ups of Special Branch (SB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Armed Police Battalion (APBn), and the commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
Additionally, new superintendents of police (SPs) have been appointed in three districts.
According to a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Additional IGP Sardar Nurul Amin of Police Headquarters has been made additional IGP of the SB, while Additional IGP Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has been appointed additional IGP of the CID. Former CID chief Additional IGP Md Sibgat Ullah has been reassigned to Police Headquarters.
CMP Commissioner Additional IGP Hasib Aziz has been given charge of the APBn, and DIG Hasan Md Shawkat Ali, additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been appointed as the new CMP commissioner.
DIG Md Moniruzzaman of SB Dhaka has been made DIG of Chattogram Range.
In a separate notification, new SPs have been appointed in Khagrachhari, Madaripur, and Magura. CID SP Mortoza Ali Khan has been named SP of Khagrachhari, replacing an earlier transfer order.
Magura SP Habibur Rahman has been transferred to Madaripur, while Madaripur SP Ehteshamul Haque has been moved to the CID.
DMP Deputy Commissioner Molla Azad Hossain has been appointed SP of Magura.
According to another notification, DIG Ashrafur Rahman of Police Headquarters has been assigned as acting Additional IGP at the same office.
