Veteran Dhallywood actor Ahmed Sharif is once again at the centre of industry attention amid reports that he may enter the upcoming election of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association.
A founding figure of the organisation, Sharif has a long history with the association, having previously served multiple terms as general secretary and president. His possible return to the electoral arena has triggered renewed discussion within the film fraternity, although the actor has stopped short of making any formal announcement.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, Sharif said he was still weighing his options. He confirmed that conversations were ongoing but stressed that no final decision had been taken. Any development, he added, would be communicated through a press conference.
Local media reports suggest Sharif may be considering a bid for the presidency, though no official panel has yet been declared. “I am speaking to everyone,” he said, indicating that clarity on his intentions could come within days
