The government has appointed Afroza Abbas as the chairperson of the Jatiya Mohila Sangstha.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Tuesday appointing Afroza Abbas to the position. The notification stated that the appointment is unpaid.
The appointment has been made for a period of two years from the date of joining, under sections 8(1) and 8(2) of the National Women’s Organisation Act, 1991.
According to the notification, the government reserves the right to cancel the appointment at any time before the expiry of the term if deemed necessary. Afroza Abbas also has the option to resign at any time by submitting a signed letter to the government.
Afroza Abbas is the wife of BNP Standing Committee member and MP Mirza Abbas. She has been serving as president of Jatiotabadi Mohila Dal, the women’s wing of BNP.
