Afran Nisho was visibly moved while discussing his latest film, ‘Domm’, at a recent press conference, shedding tears as he spoke about the true story behind the movie.
Alongside Nisho (as Shahjahan Islam Noor in the film), the real-life inspiration behind the Eid release, Md Noor Islam, shared his harrowing survival story at a press conference in the capital on April 4, describing the ordeal that inspired the widely discussed film directed by Redoan Rony and starring Afran Nisho.
Based on a true story from 2008, the film depicts Noor Islam’s abduction by Taliban militants in Afghanistan and his miraculous return after 84 days in captivity. After watching the film at Star Cineplex, Noor Islam, accompanied by his wife Anwara Parvin (Rani), termed ‘Domm’ “international standard” and praised Nisho’s performance as “outstanding.”
The Eid release, co-produced by Chorki and Alpha-i , has already made a strong impact at the box office.
The actor explained that he visited the real-life village of Noor to understand the hardships portrayed on screen. Speaking about the experience, Nisho said, “Look, I am also a man of flesh and blood,” before breaking down in tears.
Nisho described Noor’s family struggles as deeply human and said the stories of their lives inspired him to immerse himself in the role fully. He urged audiences to watch Domm in theatres to experience Noor’s struggles and emotions firsthand.
Expressing gratitude to director Redoan Rony and producer Shahriar Shakil, Noor Islam said it took 18 years for his story of survival to reach the public.
Actress Puja Cherry, and producers Redoan Rony and Shahriar Shakil were also present at the press event.
The film’s poignant narrative and Nisho’s dedication have resonated strongly with viewers, cementing Domm as both a critical and commercial success.
