Afghanistan Under 19 scored 283 for 7 in their 50 overs against Bangladesh Under 19 in the Youth Asia Cup group match.
Bangladesh bowlers started well and kept control for most of the innings. However, loose bowling in the final overs helped Afghanistan push the score to a strong total.
The match took place at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Saad Islam gave Bangladesh an early breakthrough. He removed opener Khalid Ahmadzai. Khalid scored 3 runs from 13 balls. Afghanistan lost their first wicket at 16.
Osman Sadat and Faisal Shinozada then rebuilt the innings. They added runs steadily and looked solid. The stand ended at 82. Samiun Basir Ratul dismissed Sadat. He scored 34 off 50 balls.
Faisal then found support from Uzairullah Niazai. The pair batted with confidence and steadied the innings. Faisal reached his fifty and continued to bat freely. He later completed a fine century.
Iqbal Hossain Emon ended Faisal’s innings. Faisal scored 103 runs from 94 balls. After that, Niazai and Mahboob Khan added more runs. Afghanistan kept moving forward. Shahriar Ahmed struck twice in quick time. Niazai made 44 from 55 balls. Mahboob scored 13 from 19 balls.
Bangladesh applied pressure again after the seventh wicket fell at 225. Still, Afghanistan fought back. Azizullah Miakhil and Abdul Aziz shared a useful partnership for the eighth wicket. Their stand helped the team cross 250.
Afghanistan finished on 283 for 7. Abdul Aziz stayed not out on 26 from 16 balls. Azizullah Miakhil remained unbeaten on 38 from 36 balls.
For Bangladesh, Iqbal Hossain Emon and Shahriar Ahmed took two wickets each. Saad Islam, Samiun Basir Ratul, and Rizan Hossan picked up one wicket each.
