Popular Bangladeshi actor Hasan Masood has been hospitalized after suffering an ischemic stroke and a mild heart attack on Monday night.
According to hospital sources, Masood was rushed to Universal Medical College Hospital in Dhaka’s Mohakhali area after experiencing severe headaches and convulsions. Following medical examinations, doctors confirmed the stroke and cardiac event.
He is currently under observation at the hospital’s Stroke Unit, being treated by a team of neurologists, cardiologists, and critical care specialists.
Dr Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of Universal Medical College Hospital, told the media, “Hasan Masood suffered an ischemic stroke and a mild heart attack. He is under close supervision of our specialist team. Typically, such patients are kept under observation for 48 to 72 hours before further treatment decisions are made.”
Once a household name for his distinctive performances in television dramas and films, Hasan Masood has been less active on screen in recent years. He recently made headlines for expressing his intention to return to professional work outside acting, saying in an interview, “I’m looking for a job now; perhaps in journalism or administration.”
Before his acting career, Hasan Masood served in the Bangladesh Army from 1985 to 1992, retiring as a Captain. He later pursued sports journalism, working with BBC Bangla from 2004 to 2008.
His acting debut came through Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s acclaimed film Bachelor, followed by notable roles in Made in Bangladesh, Houseful, Taxi Driver, Khunsuti, Graduate, and Goni Saheber Shesh Kichudin.
Fans and colleagues have wished the veteran actor a speedy recovery.
