Bangladesh is set to make history by hosting the 2nd Women’s Kabaddi World Cup from 15 to 25 November 2025 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The event, part of the nationwide “Festival of Youth 2025” celebrations, will be organised by the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council.
The global tournament is finally heading to Bangladesh after multiple schedule and venue changes. Initially planned for Bihar, India in June, it was later moved to Hyderabad’s Gachibowli Indoor Stadium for early August. However, the competition was postponed indefinitely due to fixture clashes with the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League.
This year’s edition marks the return of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup after a 13-year gap, with the last tournament held in Patna in 2012, where India clinched the inaugural title. Iran, Japan, and Thailand secured the next three positions, setting the standard for international women’s kabaddi.
In 2025, 14 nations will compete for the title. Participating nations are Bangladesh (hosts), Argentina, Chinese Taipei, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, India, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, Zanzibar, and Poland. Pakistan have been placed on standby.
The Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium has been officially allocated as the venue, with preparations already in full swing. Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation President and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, BPM, confirmed that the organising committee is coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure smooth arrangements for visiting teams. This includes logistics such as travel, accommodation, security, and local transport.
For Bangladesh, this marks the first time in history that a global women’s kabaddi tournament will be staged on home soil. The event not only highlights the country’s growing sports infrastructure but also reflects its commitment to expanding opportunities for women athletes.
With the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup coinciding with the Festival of Youth 2025, the competition is expected to inject new energy into Bangladesh’s sporting calendar and inspire the next generation of players and fans alike.
