The government has cancelled the two orders appointing two police officials as the directors of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), a day after making the decision.
The Ministry of Public Administration had issued two separate orders on Tuesday, appointing Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Yusuf and Zahidur Raman.
A public administration ministry official told TIMES of Bangladesh that the ministry appointed the two officials after a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Responding to a query, Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid said there are no allegations against the two officials.
“As far as I heard their designation does not match with the position as there are joint secretaries with the post of directors, they are additional superintendent of police,” said Rashid.
The order for cancellation these appointments came at a time when several advisers said they are finding it difficult to appoint officials in the administration, as two political parties are pushing the government to appoint officials loyal to their parties.
