Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has called for the declaration of a national “Anti-Oppression Day” and its proper observance on the occasion of the 6th martyrdom anniversary of Shahid Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Central President of Chhatra Shibir, Zahidul Islam, announced this programme in a notification on Sunday.
According to the notice, on October 7, 2019, terrorists of the banned Chhatra League brutally killed the BUET student Abrar Fahad, labeling him as “Chhatra Shibir.” The crime of Shahid Abrar Fahad was speaking the truth and against hegemony.
Since coming to power in 2009, at least six thousand students have been victims of Chhatra League’s torture with the aim of establishing dominance on campuses. Post-July uprising, the student community does not want to see such a horrific picture of torture ever again in the future.
In this context, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has decided to observe this day as “Anti-Oppression Day.” Simultaneously, we call upon the government to declare and observe a “National Anti-Oppression Day” at the state level.

Organising anti-oppression seminars and symposiums on campuses.

Highlighting the torture picture of the banned Chhatra League during the fascist era and taking initiatives for legal action.

Writing on various platforms against oppression and hegemony on campuses.
The notification said, “In light of the central directive, we call upon all metropolitan, university, city, and district branches of Chhatra Shibir to implement these programms. May Allah the Almighty accept all our endeavours for His religion.”
