A single hour of heavy rainfall has led to severe waterlogging on various roads in Savar and Ashulia, both key industrial zones. This has caused immense public suffering throughout the week.
Pedestrians are facing extreme difficulties navigating the pothole-filled roads, which have become even more hazardous due to the flooding.
On Saturday morning, long traffic jams were reported around Rajfulbari and Jorpul bus stands in Savar, further exacerbating the situation.

In areas such as Bharari Newpara and Rajfulbari Mohammad Ali Yakub Ali School and College, the entire road was submerged in water. In some places, the water overflowed onto the sidewalks, flooding nearby businesses and homes.
Local residents highlighted that the road from Rajfulbari bus stand to the market is frequently submerged throughout the year.
Additionally, after Thursday’s rain, knee-deep water accumulated in front of Shariful Mia’s house on Bharari Newpara road.
Meanwhile, in Ashulia’s Jamgora area, even light rainfall on Friday morning caused water to remain on the road, leading to severe disruptions in traffic.
A garment worker shared, “We have to risk walking through dirty water. At times, rickshaws overturn and accidents happen.”
