A fire broke out at a restaurant on the ground floor of the 10-storey Siraj Tower in Dhaka’s Baiely Road on Monday evening.

Three Fire Service Units rushed to the spot immediately. However, traffic congestion delayed response efforts.

The fire was brought under control after an hour at 7:47pm, said firefighting officials.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still not clear. No casualties have been reported so far.

Fire Service Inspector (Media) Anwarul Islam said that many people are still trapped at the top of the building.

Earlier on February 29, 2024, a fire broke out at Bailey Road’s Green Cozy Cottage Shopping Mall, killing 46 people.
