The results of first-ever admission test for undergraduate programmes at the newly proposed Dhaka Central University (DCU), which comprises seven government colleges in the capital, have been announced for the 2024-25 academic year.
The announcement was made on Tuesday through a notice signed by Professor AKM Elias, administrator of the university and principal of Dhaka College.
Candidates can check their results by visiting the official website at https://dcuadmission.org/. Those who secure a place on the merit list will be able to start the subject and college selection process from September 15.
The notice also stated that the authorities reserve the right to correct any discrepancies or errors found in the published results or even cancel the results entirely if necessary.
The admission tests for the three units of Dhaka Central University were held on August 22 and 23 in three shifts. This year, approximately 72,000 students applied for 11,150 seats across these three units.
The seven colleges had been affiliated with Dhaka University since 2017. The colleges are Dhaka College, Eden College, Titumir College, Bangla College, Begum Badrunnesa College, Kabi Nazrul College, and Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Following ongoing complaints of irregularities and mismanagement, students launched protests calling for reforms. Subsequently, the interim government decided to cancel the affiliation and establish ‘Dhaka Central University’ with these seven colleges.
