The body of a missing bKash employee was recovered from the Mogra River in Netrokona on Tuesday afternoon, two days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Md Rijan Mia, 22, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of West Nagora area in Netrokona district town. His hands were found tied when the body was recovered near Ghagra village in Swormushia union.
According to police and local sources, Rijan worked as a bKash agent in the town. On Sunday morning, he left the office carrying Tk 12.5 lakh, but went missing sometime after 3pm. His mobile phone had been switched off since then.
After failing to trace him, his family lodged a general diary (GD) at Sadar Model Police Station on Sunday night.
On Tuesday afternoon, locals spotted a body floating in the Mogra River and alerted the police. Law enforcers later recovered the body.
Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Inspector (Investigation) of Atpara Police Station, said the body had been sent to Netrokona Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
“An investigation is underway to determine the cause and motive behind the killing,” he added.
