United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has successfully concluded its month-long Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) in Bogura, aimed at empowering both potential and existing entrepreneurs who are outside the formal banking and financing network. The initiative was carried out with the support of Bangladesh Bank under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), a program led by the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh.
The 100-hour training program focused on developing key entrepreneurial skills, enhancing business acumen, and promoting financial inclusion among participants from the Bogura region. The program underscores UCB’s commitment to supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and fostering economic empowerment at the grassroots level, according to a press release.
The closing ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of dignitaries, including Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Bangladesh Bank Joint Director Mohammad Wasim, Bangladesh Bank Deputy Director & Program Coordinator of SICIP-PIU, SMESPD Md. Ariful Islam, Sonali Bank PLC General Manager Md. Rashidul Islam, UCB Deputy Managing Director Md. Shah Alam Bhuiyan, and UCB Head of SME & Agri Banking Division Mohammad Salim Chowdhury, alongside other local entrepreneurs and UCB officials.
The initiative marks a key milestone in UCB’s strategic collaboration with Bangladesh Bank to strengthen entrepreneurship and improve industrial competitiveness in the country. Through initiatives like this, UCB continues to emphasize inclusive financing and capacity-building efforts to support entrepreneurs across Bangladesh.
